I’m interested in covering “The Last Lecture Series” this week, a semesterly event hosted by Student Union. Each semester, they invite a faculty member to present on a topic of their choice, and the chosen speaker this fall is Dr. Mir Yarfitz of the History Department. He will be speaking about the history of fraternity masculinity, which seems controversial and newsworthy considering tensions and myriad events on campus over the past two years.
I want to write about this lecture, because I’m interested in both the history of fraternity culture and what the student reaction might be. Whether Dr. Yarfitz will address Wake history and/or present-day implications is a mystery to me; but, that the lecture is hosted by Student Union might suggest that its intended audience is campus-wide and could address the student body in some way.
