2. Select a team with a game coming up and write a pre-game story using existing press releases, game stories or especially statistics prepared and provided by the Sports Information staff at Wake Forest.
3. Your 500-word story — posted to your blog with a photo — can highlight a star player in the context of the upcoming game, or discuss the team as a whole. You want your story to not only let readers know what game is on the schedule, but the significance of the game ahead, whether it’s a big rivalry, what happened when the teams played last, the arc of the season so far for the Wake Forest team with a lesser mention of where the opponent stands.
4. Be sure to make use of player(s) and team statistics that help tell the story of how well (or not so well) the two are doing.
5. Try to include a player or coach quote from a press release or recent game story, if possible, that will personalize the story.
6. Because this is a graded assignment, please send me a Word doc of your story (as well as post it to your blog.). Save it as Last Name Stat Story.docx and email me.
7. Deadline — As soon as possible, but no later than midnight Thursday.
