In recent weeks the news has been flooded with the rampant fires across the Australian countryside. In light of this devastation, climate change has been brought back to the forefront of politics. In Australia and the rest of the world, negligence to the power of climate change has set the stage for natural disasters like these fires. I want to localize this issue by asking the student and faculty population at Wake Forest on how they feel about climate change. In North Carolina specifically, climate change has contributed to the drastic changes in weather and temperature. But, do students feel it is a huge issue? Were they aware of the fires in Australia? What actions have students taken to combat climate change?
Throughout my interviews I want to get a feel for the extent to which this population feels responsible for climate action. I plan to interview a wide array of students, professors, and specifically, Dedee DeLongpré Johnston, the Chief Sustainability Officer here at Wake Forest.
