The three news briefs in Exercise 49 in the workbook are your homework, due 5 pm by email Thursday, Jan. 31.

1. Follow the directions at the top of the page. You will rewrite each of these briefs to make the stories grammatically and AP-style correct, but also concise and clear. Don’t add any information that’s not there.
2. If you have any questions for the writer of the news brief, list them at the bottom of the story. You may or may not.
3. Write a headline for each story — 12 words or less, present tense. Make sure your headlines are accurate.
4. Save as a Word doc, and call your story Last Name Ex 49.docx ( eg Smith Ex 49.docx ).
